I had a chance to touch Panasonic Toughpad 4K at Panasonic Canada Inc.

I went to Panasonic Canada Inc the other day and had a chance to touch Toughpad 4K. It was about 1cm thick and not so heavy than I thought (2.4kg). It was very nice handleability like iPad. 

 I wanted try to use the Anoto's digital pen but I didn't have a chance. But you can see this video. It seems the writing pressure is very good.

You can buy Toughpad 4K now but you can not buy this at an electrical appliance store. If you want it, you have to ask closest Panasonic directly. I believe they are making Touchpad 4K in Japan. 

Now Panasonic is active in the area of school business and surveillance. They are thinking that they want to bring a solution to those kinds of areas by using their products.

Panasonic ran in the red (about - 5,750 million dollar) in 2012 but they are out of the red in 2013 (about 2,240 million dollar). Their stock price rose too. It was 400 yen in November 2012 but it is 1,206 yen in February 2014.

Their performance is well for now. However, they subjected to structural reform boldly. If they don't create a hit product and a pillar of business, it might be painful. I hope Thoughpad 4k will be the hit product and the teleclass system and the surveillance system will be the pillar of business for them.

Konosuke Matsushita is the founder of Panasonic. He left so many great phrases and words. I think Panasonic can keep the business running with his philosophy. I want to introduce their new products and Konosuke Matsushita's book on this blog in the near future.

 There are more fantastic features for this phone. I am using iPhone 4s (SIM free version) now and I like my iPhone but I am sure I will buy Xperia for the next. Because it is obviously better than iPhone... I am sorry, Apple...

Panasonic postpone the debut of Toughpad 4K.

I wrote an article about Toughpad 4k which a tablet is corresponding to 4K resolution the first time in the world. I thought we can see it this December but 3 days ago, Panasonic announced that it would postpone the release date to mid-February 2014. The price is still open and there is no change in that it is a product of corporate.

As the reason of postponement, Panasonic changed the design in some parts to ensure a stable spec of initially announced.

I really want to touch it and see the quality of the product. Please don't postpone anymore;-)

I have a iPhone 4s in my hand now. I use my iPhone to take some pictures often. And also I have sony's Cyber-shot. I have not used my Cyber-shot for a while because I have iPhone and it very useful but when I compare the quality of the photos of iPhone and Cybershot, there is still big different between them.

I saw this camera on the internet a while ago and I actually could touch it and took a look of this camera's feature at Sony of Canada Ltd yesterday! This camera can attach to your cell phone like iPhone or Xperia. First of all, DSCWX10 connects to a cell phone through NFC (Near Field Communication).

I think you can guess what the Washlet do for you without my explanation. When I used Washlet first time, the feeling was so weird. Of course, every time I used the paper so it should surprise no one that I felt like that. I think everybody feels like that. It just feel odd. I couldn't use it for a while after I used it first time. But I tried to use it again. I don't know why, I just wanted use it. I felt the same way but the feeling was a kind of different. It does not feel good but I felt it so clean. There is a warm air dryer so you can dry your bottom after you wash. But it takes a little time to dry so I use some paper at the same time. It makes your bottom clean very much. This is the most important thing. If you have your bottom issue, Washlet makes you happy.

A Japanese electronics company, Panasonic will release 20-inch tablet "Toughpad 4k" in December 2013. The price will be USD 4600 or CAD 4800. The mainstream tablet in the world like iPad is about 8 to 10 inch and the price is about $500.  The price of Toughpad 4k is about 10 times bigger than the normal tablet. But this Toughpad 4k is not for the small customer. It is actually for the business person who is a car dealer, an architect or etc.

FUJIFILM X20 was released in the spring of this year. This camera has a cute design in a very retro. My father had such a camera a long time ago. The camera looked like this camera. What of Retro appearance, FUJIFILM X20 is amazing？

FUJIFILM X20 was released in the spring of this year. This camera has a cute design in a very retro. My father had such a camera a long time ago. The camera looked like this camera. The size is small and I think you want to try to hold this camera. It reminds you the good old days. The design is retro, but the functionality is the latest.

The advanced optical viewfinder makes a comfortable viewing of the shooting information.The manual zoom is for easy framing in a comfortable shooting. It starts quickly, it will focus instantly. Sharp and clear, 12M X-Trans CMOS Ⅱ copies the world clearly. FUJIFILM is a photographic film manufacturers in Japan. They aggressively advance into the field of the medical and healthcare field and material of liquid crystal displays, medical and pharmaceutical, functional cosmetics by applying the technical capabilities such as chemical synthesis, which has been cultivated in the photographic film manufacturing. Because we don't need the films now  by using the digital camera. We can watch the photos on the display. They have to do something different.

But FUJIFILM is still selling the lens with film "Utsurundesu (写ルンです, QuickSnap)"  in the mainstream of digital camera. It was released in 1986. I think it was a revolutionary camera and it had explosive sales at that time. I still remember the sense of holding a QuickSnap. I was a kid though.

I think FUJIFILM has an attitude that they put emphasis on the good old stuff and hand the stuff down to posterity. I surely think they will make such a warm products from now on.

Panasonic pursuit the quality of the electronic stylus in this product. Panasonic decided to use Anoto's positioning technology of digital pen. They could create a new electronic pen that we can draw fine character and curve like on paper. 

"Toughpad 4k" was awarded the Grand Prix at the Products segment of CEATEC JAPAN 2013.

I think honestly, it's niche products. But it's products that symbolizes the current Panasonic which aim to survive by moving to B to B from B to C even they turn their back toward the large market.

The executives of Microsoft and Intel said "It's a product like made in Japan". They evaluate the unique ideas. I hope Toughpad 4k can be a product which can save Panasonic.

Washlet

I would like to introduce "Washlet" today. Washlet is a registered trademark of the Japanese toilet company Toto. Toto is a manufacturer of sanitary ware-housing equipment and it is a member of the Morimura group. Morimura is the world's largest ceramics business group. A Japanese tableware manufacturer, "Noritake" is also in Morimura group. I will post about Noritake another day.

"Washlet" is a combination of the English words for "let" and "wash". In 1982, there was a TV commercial for Washlet in Japan. The catch-phrase was "your bottom wants to be washed". You can see the commercial on Youtube. This CM enhanced the visibility of the Washlet in Japan. I still remember about this commercial.

A brand-new camera from Sony

This is a brand-new camera from Sony. The model name is DSCWX10. I saw this camera on the internet a while ago and I actually could touch it and took a look of this camera's feature at Sony of Canada Ltd yesterday! This camera can attach to your cell phone like iPhone or Xperia. First of all, DSCWX10 connects to a cell phone through NFC (Near Field Communication). Once connect to each other through NFC, it connects through Wi-Fi. You can press a button on DSCWX10 or tap a button on your cell phone's screen to take a picture. It has a CMOS image sensor like Cyber-Shot so you can get a very clear picture even if you take a picture in the dark. The picture quality is much much better than the cell phone picture.

Actually, you don't have to connect to the cell phone, you can take a picture without the cell phone and save the data in a micro SD. The price is CAD 249.99. You will be able to see and buy this camera at Sony Store and Henry's (in Canada) in the end of this month. Sony still have an idea and a power to make something a great stuff like this camera. I hope they can keep making such a wonderful stuff for us.

Sony Cyber-Shot

There are so many Digital Camera companies and manufactures in the world. According to Wiki, the active camera brands are about 40 now, of which 11 are Japanese brands like Sony, Canon, Epson, Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic etc.

These Japanese electronics companies are falling down in the market because they have been besieged by competition from rivals in the U.S., South Korea. Their financial situation is very bad now. 

But still they are making the digital cameras because I think they still have not been lost their engineering passion and the quality of the products.

I have a iPhone 4s in my hand now. I use my iPhone to take some pictures often. And also I have sony's Cyber-shot. I have not used my Cyber-shot for a while because I have iphone and it very useful but when I compare the quality of the photos of iPhone and Cybershot, there is still big different between them. The quality of the photo of Cyber-shot is much much better than iPhone. Especially, I can see the different when I took a picture in the dark.

Apple knows the big different of the photo quality so they are using Sony's camera in iPhone 5 now.

And there are so many electronic stuff in iPhone which is made by the Japanese electronics companies like Murata, TDK, Toshiba and Sharp etc. The iPhone can not exist without Japanese technology. 

I hope you can try to get and touch the Japanese technology. I am sure it is not dead. The era of Japanese electronics will be back soon. I believe it so.
